Why did you choose this time to be alive?
Of all the moments you could have been born, why did you choose this one?
The world is plagued with wars and the rumours of wars. There’s death and killing; terrorists under every bed. The climate is in chaos and people are actually talking about the possibility of humans going extinct!
Could it get any worse?
And yet you did choose this time… Why?
Like the rush of a rollercoaster at full-speed, this time in human history is both terrifying and exhilarating. We have never held so much promise in our hands. Technology is advancing at a mind-blowing rate. Society is transforming. Our understanding of the physical universe itself is in flux.
It’s wild. And right now, we have the potential – just in the next few years – to conquer disease, conquer poverty and starvation, perhaps even conquer death itself.
There are revolutions going on right now in every field of human endeavour – from business to engineering; from medicine to space exploration.
So what are you going to do? What are you going to do with your gifts and your talents?
Are you going to hide yourself away complaining about how scary the world is?
I bloody well hope not.
Get involved! Find whatever it is that ignites your spirit and give yourself to it a 110%.
And if that means breaking free of the daily-grind, busting out of the 9 to 5, then just bloody well do it.
This is the most amazing time to be alive, ever.
You made a good choice. And you made a promise to your soul.
