The Single Mother of Seven Who Succeeded as a Property Investor

What do you do when life completely changes? For one single mother, investing in property was the answer

After 32 years, Christina found herself single.

A mother of seven kids, she had to readjust to a brand new life. The good news for her is that money wasn’t a problem. Her divorce left her with plenty of it.

So, she spent some cash on herself, her family, and her friends.

But once she’d done that, she had a question:

What now?

What came next was an experience that changed her life forever and left her feeling young again.

Christina’s Real Estate Journey

An I Love Real Estate ad popped up on Christina’s Facebook and she decided to go to the seminar.

Before that, she’d had to make some adjustments. Christina had just escaped an abusive marriage. She’d spent her life scrimping and saving. When she received the settlement from the divorce, she finally learned how wealthy the family really was.

For the first time in her life, she had plenty of money.

And like so many people in that position, she started to burn through it.

Years of abuse left her self-esteem in tatters. And with no support system to lean on, barring a few friends who couldn’t really help her with the money issue.

That’s where Christina was when she came to the first seminar.

The 18-Month Journey

At first, Christina didn’t do much with the knowledge she’d gained. It wasn’t until she attended her first boot camp that she decided to take action.

That’s when she realised that all of the plans she’d made weren’t going to work.

So, she started working on something that would.

The holiday home she owned was a good start. For six months, she visited and prepared it for renting. She installed a firewall down the middle and split half the home into a three-bedroom unit.

The passive income started coming in from the rentals.

From there, she started making purchases.

The first was a three-car garage that an old man lived in. Her real estate agent told her that nobody would live in it.

Her response?

Somebody did until two weeks ago!

She transformed that garage into a two-bedroom unit and started to rent it out.

And right now, she’s working on a third property that she’ll turn into another three-bedroom unit.

But that’s not all. Christina’s also investing in commercial property using a self-managed super fund (SMSF).

She found a property in Queensland that hosted a day spa and hairdressing business. After doing her due diligence, she decided it was the perfect opportunity.

Now, it’s generating $47,000 in passive income per year.

Next came a joint venture deal.

She found a property that she could subdivide and renovate. A builder friend moved in and paid 1.5% as rent for the privilege. He also handled all of the renovation work, which Christina paid for.

When that’s completed, they’ll split the profit 50/50.

More properties followed. And in many cases, the properties that Christina buys end up getting rented by her own children!

So, she’s making money and taking care of her family in one fell swoop.

The End Result

Christina’s achieved a lot in a short space of time with I Love Real Estate.

She’s built a property portfolio that offers a good mix of residential and commercial. Those properties generate a solid passive income that she can live off.

And she’s built almost $3 million in equity in less than two years!

But most importantly, she’s taking care of her seven children.

None of them speak to their father anymore because of the abuse he meted out to Christina and the whole family.

They’ve escaped his clutches and now have a future that they can look forward to thanks to property investing.

There are so many lessons that you can take away from Christina’s story. Here are three that may help you to create the future you’re dreaming of.

Lesson #1 – Build Your Confidence

Christina’s lack of self-esteem could have prevented her from investing. After over 30 years of abuse, she struggled to find confidence in herself.

This almost stopped her from attending her first I Love Real Estate seminar.

But she confronted those fears and took the leap anyway. Now, she’s built an amazing portfolio that’s providing for her and her family.

The lesson here is that confidence isn’t a thing that you either have or you don’t. You can build it, as long as you have the right advice and a good community around you.

If you’re unsure of yourself when it comes to investing, find the right mentors and learn as much as you can.

The confidence will come.

Lesson #2 – Find Your Reason

Think of property investing as a business.

Every business needs to have a “why” behind it. There has to be a reason for why you’re building this thing in the first place.

For Christina, it’s building a better life for herself and her family.

What’s yours?

Do you want to have the freedom to take holidays whenever you want? Do you want to generate a passive income that will take you out of full-time work?

Find your reason and use it when setting goals. It’ll motivate you to keep pushing if things get a little tough.

Lesson #3 – Don’t Limit Yourself

So many property investors limit themselves to one property type.

Not Christina!

She’s investing in both residential and commercial properties. Each comes with its own challenges but she’s making them successful.

The point here is that you don’t need to limit yourself. There are many possibilities on the table when it comes to investing. Do your research, figure out which works best for you, and then go for it.

Create the Future You Dream Of

For over three decades, Christina lived under the shadow of abuse. It affected everything in her life, including her own children.

Perhaps you have your own demons to deal with.

The biggest lesson you can learn from Christina is that what happened in the past doesn’t have to hold you back. It can’t stop you from building the future that you want to have.

Property investing can help you to create that future.
