Truth Bomb Tuesday: Dream a little bigger
People always massively underestimate what they are capable of achieving.
And that’s a shame because they under-shoot. They dream small. They settle for less than they should.
I think there’s two reasons for that.
The first is that they don’t factor in their own personal growth.
As you get deeper into the journey, as you gain skills and experience, you get better and doing whatever you do.
And as you get quicker – as you become more efficient – the amount of stuff you can get done increases…
… exponentially.
I mean, I’m a good case in point. Right now I can pull together a solid cash-flow positive deal in half a day.
(Maybe give it a full day if take the usual two and a half hours for lunch)
But I remember back when I started, the same deal would have taken me two weeks… maybe as month’s worth of solid work.
I’d be needing to research stuff. I’d be needing to check my calculations over and over. I’d be needing to go back and fix mistakes.
There was a lot of stuff I did then that I just don’t need to do now because I’m just older and wiser and I know what I’m doing.
And it’s the same for everyone.
But people look at what’s required, or they start out and do their first deal, and they think, “Omg, this is going to take ages. I’m never going to make good money like this.”
The mistake they make is they forget that they’ll just get better. They’ll grow. They’ll gain skills and experience.
They forget it’s a journey.
The second mistake people make is that they try to build a life out of the time that’s left over.
They do everything they ‘need’ to do – they go to work, they look after the kids, they attend to their friends, they go to the kids’ birthday parties etc etc.
And then only after they’ve done everything they ‘need’ to do, then they look at how they can build financial freedom for themselves with whatever time’s left over.
But what they’re left with is maybe only a few minutes every day, if that. Minutes when you’re already tired and grumpy.
And you can’t do anything with that.
You’ve got to put first things first.
You’ve got to make your dreams (whatever form they take) your number one priority.
Once you’ve done that, and you’re giving them the time they deserve, you’ll be amazed and what you can actually achieve.
Like all things in life, the value of time compounds. The more you put in, the more you get back.
So this is my advice to you. If you’re dreaming small – if you’re selling yourself short – and only because you think you’re just not able to do all that much with your time, stop it.
You can achieve an incredible amount.
Spend your time wisely. Make sure your time-budget lines up with your priorities.
And then just trust that you will become more skilful, more efficient and more productive over time.
You will be amazed and what you can achieve.
Everyone always is.
